I photograph a lot of high school boys who pretend not to want to be photographed. But I know better.
Some of the guys that I photograph for senior pictures feel that it’s unnecessary. I think that their seeming dislike being of being photographed is in the realization that these images will be so powerful they’ll unmask their essence and reveal their potential. They may ask themselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?” because the portraits we create answer that question with this one: “Who are you not to be? Your fear of your potential doesn’t serve the world. You were born to reveal that potential!”
And that potential is in all of them. It’s in all of us. That’s the power of what we can create together. A great portrait can let you shine, and can give you permission to do the same for others. As you are liberated from your fear, your self-knowledge liberates others around you.
That’s the power and responsibility of what I do.
I don’t take your pictures.
I reveal your confidence.
I unmask your potential.
