Where is the bathroom?
Right down the hall to the left. (We’ll start with the easy one.)
Why is it called KenMar?
My parents, Ken and Margaret, started this studio back in 1954. They also named me Todd. The name is a reminder of where this all began — family, craftsmanship, and a belief that portraits matter.
What makes KenMar special?
Time, talent, and taste. You can’t rush experience, and you can’t fake an eye that’s been trained over decades. What I bring to every session is a calm, practiced way of seeing people — really seeing them — and creating portraits that feel honest, relaxed, and timeless.
What is this going to cost?
Everyone has a budget, so I keep things simple and fair.
- We offer packages starting at $299, which include a half‑hour session, an 8×10, a 5×7, wallets, and a yearbook photo.
- Some families invest more, depending on what they want finished and framed.
- And yes — May sessions are 75% off, June is 50% off, and July is 25% off.
The most expensive option isn’t always the best, and the cheapest isn’t always a bargain. What matters is finding the right balance of value and quality — and that’s something we’ve been committed to for over 60 years.
How can I trust myself to recognize better quality portraits?
You’ll feel it. Good portraits have a way of settling into you — relaxed expressions, natural poses, backgrounds that support the story instead of distracting from it.
When you look at samples, look for:
- variety
- comfort
- personality
- storytelling
At KenMar, it’s always about the person in front of the camera. When someone feels seen, their expression changes — and that’s where the magic is.
Why is experience so important?
Because experience is what turns personality into portraiture.
I’ve seen trends come and go. I’ve watched technology change a hundred times. But the heart of a portrait — the part that lasts — comes from understanding people.
Experience teaches you:
- when to wait
- when to guide
- when to encourage
- when to simply let someone be themselves
A well‑made portrait holds something deeper than a likeness. It holds meaning. My goal is always to create images where you can see the past, the potential, and the personality.
What’s another good way to choose a photographer?
Ask people you trust. KenMar has been part of this community for more than six decades, and many of our clients come from word‑of‑mouth — families who value the same things you do.
If this feels like the right fit…
I’d be honored to photograph you or your family. Call 920‑734‑5328 and we’ll find a time that works.
